Splat Layout

1. Open a new canvas around size 600 x 500. This is meant to be a corner layout. Fill in the background with color #ffc731. Make a new layer, change your color to white, and then use some fancy brushes like these and these and these to lay down the backdrop of this layout. Be sure to steer clear from the edges.

2. Make a new layer and change your color to black and the blending mode to Overlay. Repeat what you did for the last layer, but vary your brushes and include some targets like these.

3. Make a new layer and change your color to white again. Use these brushes on your canvas, trying not to overlap them too much. Double click the layer to bring up the Layer Style, then change the Fill Opacity to 0% and add a 1px #ff3399 Stroke.

4. Make a new layer and use the custom shape tool to draw shapes on your layout. The color doesn't matter because you change the fill opacity in the Layer Style to 0% again. Next add a stroke of 1px #00cccc and a white outer glow with Blending Mode Normal, 100%, 11% spread, and 24px size. Repeat with a new layer, bigger shapes, a 1px stroke of #ccff00, a soft light drop shadow, and a black outer glow.

5. If you want to add a photo, now is the time. I added this picture of a duck by pasting it in, selecting the duck with the lasso tool, right clicking and changing the feather to 10px, right clicking again and going to select inverse, pressing delete several times, and finally shrinking and rotating the picture with the free transform tool. I also duplicated the duck layer and changed the size for another duck, and I added a white outer glow to both of them.

6. Make a new layer for your text and fancy it up however you like (I used an outer glow and a layer underneath with a partially erased, tilted white rectangle).
