Get Visitors to Come Back Daily

Getting visitors to come to your site the first time is easy, right?  You just give them the link to your website and they usually go there.  The trick is to make them want to come back the next day, and the day after that, and so on.  I mean, you could just email them the link everyday, but they'd probably get annoyed eventually.  Your visitors can be told about your site the first time, but after that it's up to them to decide if it's a site they like enough to go daily.

There are lots of ways to get your visitors to come back everyday.

Have tons of content

When a visitor goes to your site, if they see lots of content, they most likely won't be able to look at it all in one sitting because there's so much.  That's why they come back the next day, to see more of the vast expanse of stuff.  This method works once your site has been around for several months and already has tons of content, but in the beginning you probably won't have much.

Update daily

This one works for anyone, from a day-old site to a site that's been around over two years.  Since you add something new every single day, visitors will come back every day because they want to see the new stuff.  Be aware, though, that if you're focusing more on quantity than quality, visitors won't come back because they don't like the workmanship of your graphics.

Be kind

It may sound silly, but it's absolutely true.  For example, if someone emails you requesting graphics when you have in CLEAR VIEW that you do not make custom graphics, you still have to have a kind response.  If you told them something like, "OMG!  It's written all over my site!  Can't you get a hint!??  Geez, some people are total losers!" most likely they would reply back with a mean response and never go to your site again.  They might even tell everyone they know not to go to your site.  That's not good, plus it puts everyone in a bad mood.  The correct way to deal with something like that is to calmly, politely tell them something like "Sorry, but we don't take requests.  :(  However, if you'd like to see more of a certain type of graphics, I'd be more than happy to make more of them.  :)"

Let people direct link

When sites don't let you direct link (example, they'd say "please upload this to your own server") it's really annoying.  I understand that you're worried about your bandwidth and all, but the truth is, if you have a graphic such as a background and you're supposed to upload it to your own server, there's a huge chance that no one will use it.  People like simplicity, like copying the code of a graphic and pasting it on their page.  A quick solution to the bandwidth problem is that you just upload your pictures to a free image hosting site, like photobucket or tinypic.

What not to do

    + don't insult your visitors

+ don't make fun of other people's sites

+ don't lose your patience with a visitor- even if you've emailed them 20 times and they still demand a custom layout

+ don't steal from people, and always remember to give credit if you're using a psd, texture, etc..

+ don't have popups- if you're on a free hosted site, the ads are stuck there, but don't add your own popups
