Icon Tutorial 1- Pretty Pink
In this tutorial, you'll take the picture from this to this:
Open the picture you want to work with. If you want it icon sized, it should be 100 by 100 pixels. :]
Make a new layer and fill it with color 865890. Change the blending mode to Lighten.
Make a new layer and fill it with color FF0058. Change the blending mode to Soft Light.
Click on the layer with your original picture, then click control + l for levels. Change the numbers to 86, 2.25, and 255.
Make a new layer on top of everything and choose a large, soft brush. Change your color to white and click once in the upper right corner so there's a single white spot, with most of it off the edge of the canvas.
Change the blending mode to soft light.
For this type of icon, text isn't all that necessary, but if you want to give it some extra detail, change your font to white and make it a really small font like 8pt Century.
And wamoo- you're done!
