MP3 Player

With all the craze of mp3 players, you'd probably think it would be cool to actually make one with Photoshop.  Well, you can- and it's pretty easy, too!

STEP 1

Open Photoshop, any size above 200px by 200px should be fine.

Make a new layer.  Using the the custom shape tool, change your color to light gray and make the body of the mp3 player.  You might decide you like a simple oval or even a rounded rectangle (like many standard mp3 players), but I decided to use a fish custom shape.

Next, take the dodge and burn tool to add a few shadows and highlights.  It doesn't have to be much because you'll be using layer styles later.

STEP 2

To give the base some life, double click the layer and apply all the following layer styles.

With the new snazz factor, your mp3 player should look like this so far:

STEP 3

The next step will really make your base look more like a music player.  Make a new layer and draw a circle with the custom shape tool in any color you want, then go to Filter- Noise- Add Noise.  Make it only .7% click ok.

Next you'll be adding more layer styles.  Double click the layer and apply the following styles:

With that, here's how the new music player looks:

STEP 4

Make a new layer, and use the text tool to type something in the screen (use a small text size).  Change the blending mode to overlay.  You can also pixel in some little volume bars.

STEP 5

Make another new layer.  Change your color to light gray, and using the custom shape tool again, draw a few buttons for your music player.  Mine are secretly shaped like bubbles for the fish. ;)  Then apply our final layer styles:

And here's what it looks like:

STEP 6

Add a name for your little mp3 player with overlay settings, and you're good to go! (mine also had a warp text setting on it)
