Tape Brushes

Always wanted to make some cute tape brushes to hold up the edges of your images? :)

1. Open Adobe Photoshop. Any file size is fine, but if you want a similar graphic, it should be close to mine, which is 255 x 161 (yeah, a weird size xP).

2. Click on the Rectangular Marquee tool and draw a long, thin rectangle in the middle of your canvas that's about 3/4 the height and 1/5 the width.

3. Click on the paint bucket and fill in the rectangle with a color like #CCCCCC. Press control + d to deselect.

4. Click on the eraser tool and change it to a hard-edge paint brush around size 9px. Start erasing bits at the top and bottom to leave you with classic tape crenelations.

5. Click on the burn tool and change it to around a size 20px soft brush and at Midtones 30%. Go around the edges and middle a little bit, then do the same but with the dodge tool and at different spots so it looks like the tape is wrinkled.

6. Click on Edit- Transform and rotate it to the side a little bit, but not too much (if you want to type in the angle at the top of the screen, it's 40 degrees). Lower the opacity to 80%.

7. Go to Edit- Define Brush, name it and click ok. If you want a brush for the other side of images, go to Edit- Transform- Flip Horizontal, then save that one as a brush too. :)

Here's a project idea.
